I was wondering whether anybody know of a keyboard shortcut in Illustrator or Photoshop to get out of text mode. I sometimes have the problem that I'm working in full screen mode, with all the tools hidden (TAB), and accidently enter a text box. Once in the text box, I can't leave it with the usual shortcuts. I can't click a tool either, because I'm in full screen mode (even the toolbar hidden...) Any ideas? Thanks, Armin

Never mind, I think I found a solution. It might not be the most elegant, but it works: I assigned the F1 key to show the tool bar, instead of the help menu (which I never use anyways...). Now when I'm stuck in full-screen text mode I can always escape by showing the tools and clicking on the selection tool. - Armin

You can hit escape and then double click a place outside a text box. Then, use keyboard shortcuts to pick a new tool, like 'V'
